VISSION

The Airlangga Institute of Indian Ocean Crossroads (AIIOC) aims to establish itself as a premier international research institute dedicated to exploring the dynamic interconnections across the Indian Ocean region. Positioned at the nexus of trade, migration, cultural exchange, and global diplomacy, AIIOC seeks to foster interdisciplinary scholarship and collaboration to address the pressing challenges and opportunities of this vital maritime corridor.

MISSION

  1. Facilitate Research Excellence: AIIOC will support innovative, interdisciplinary research on the thematic clusters we focus on, including: Urban, Heritage, Public Health, Medicine, Environmental Studies and Climatology
  2. Promote Regional Collaboration: By building networks with institutions across the Indian Ocean rim, AIIOC will foster collaboration among scholars, policymakers, artists, NGOs, activists, and many more.
  3. Engage Communities: Through community-based initiatives, the institute will connect academic research with local and regional needs, especially marginalized and peripheral voices.
