AIIOC Initiated Multisectoral Collaborative and Collegial Relationship by Holding a Meeting with Culture and Art Communities of Surabaya and Sidoarjo

AIIOC (Airlangga Institute for Indian Ocean Crossroad) along with IIAS continued the preparation for the 13th ICAS by holding a meeting with culture and art communities of Surabaya and Sidoarjo at Ria Galeria, Surabaya on 02 September 2023.

The purpose of this meeting was to plan the involvement of each community in the 13th International Convention of Asian Scholars (ICAS) 2024. Representatives comprising those communities agreed to broaden the collaborative networks of participation regarding the art and cultural exhibitions of the 13th ICAS 2024.

The meeting was attended by several representatives from the cultural and arts communities of Surabaya and Sidoarjo, namely Yayasan Biennale Jawa Timur, Operations for Habitat Studies (OHS), and Rumah Kebudayaan Malik Ibrahim Sidoarjo. They are Ayos Purwaji, one of the curator of Yayasan Biennale Jawa Timur; Bintang Putra, the director of Operations for Habitat Studies; and, Satriagama Rakantaseta, ex-director of Art Jog who now represents Rumah Kebudayaan Malik Ibrahim Sidoarjo.

Not only that, The director of IIAS, Philippe Peycam also attended the meeting at Ria Galleria. Philippe accentuated the importance of a collaborative and collegial relationship between AIIOC, as an academic research institute, with the non-academic communities. This collaborative spirit will be firstly manifested through the collaboration at ICAS, in which this particular meeting becomes the stepping stone for further paths needed to take. The delegations from AIIOC consisted of the director of AIIOC, Lina Puryanti, Ph.D.; the secretary, Irfan Wahyudi, Ph.D. along with the staff, Petrik Mahisa Akhtabi and Alexei Wahyudiputra.

This meeting is projected as a starting point to embrace more art and cultural communities to collaborate at the 13th International Convention of Asian Scholars (ICAS) 2024 which is going to take place across Greater Surabaya.
