AIIOC and IIAS Delegates’ Visitation to Trowulan Site

On 18 February 2023, the AIIOC and IIAS delegations visited the Trowulan site, Mojokerto, East Java for a brief historical study. This event was held after the roundtable discussion at Hotel Bumi had ended.

Visits were made at several points in Trowulan, some of which were the Bajang Ratu Temple, the Trowulan Majapahit Museum, and the Trowulan XI Region Cultural Preservation Center. These various activities were guided by Adrian Perkasa, S.Int., M.Hum., Ph.D. (candidate) as an AIIOC delegate and also a lecturer in the History Department at Universitas Airlangga.

The visit to the Trowulan Site was not only inteded for a brief historical study, but also as a part of location scouting that could become one of the destinations for participants in the International Convention of Asian Scholars (ICAS) which will be held from 28 July to 1 August 2024. This conference is planned to be held in the Greater Surabaya area, which includes Sidoarjo, Gresik, Mojokerto, Bangkalan, and Lamongan.

As an international conference that carries the concept of ConFest (Conference Festival), the involvement of several parties on a national scale other than academics is important to realize. Therefore, a review of locations that have significant historical and cultural values is carried out long before ICAS officially takes place.
